This wine is a Melange from Washington. This Melange is a blend that contains Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. We ended up with this bottle by accident. We had another bottle of wine but when we opened it up the cork was destroyed and part of it disintegrated away. So what were we to do but go to the store and get another bottle. We found this one on sale from its original (perhaps inflated) price of $19 so we figured we might as well try it. |

- Light aromas of spices and red berries.
- Mouth feel is very smooth and silky.
- Cherries on the tip of the tongue
- Dark chocolate and oak towards the end
- Medium finish
- A very good tasting and easy drinking wine.
- Refined and complex with enough characteristics to keep you interested. Like hanging out with the cellist of the New York Symphony. You know that you may not have a whole lot in common with her but you imagine that she would be very interesting and deep.

This wine is a Merlot from Washington. We each had this wine on separate occasions and we both liked it a lot. I had mine with some friends from our condo while we had cigars and all my friends really liked it as did I. That being said…..the second time I had this wine was tonight and for some reason it did not appeal to us as much as it did before. It was much to light to go with the meal we had and found it was easily overpowered. |

- Very light and subtle aromas of fruit.
- Bold cherry off the start, but disappears quickly.
- Light plumb tastes in the finish.
- Overall mouth feel is very light and watery.
- A bit mundane overall but not a bad wine for sharing with friends on a summer day. It is kinda like going to the movies with your sister….sure you may have a good time with her and enjoy the show but it still is a movie with your sibling.

This is a Pinot Noir from Fresh & Easy. The bottle states that this is an an Oregon Pinot, but it was actually bottled by a winery in Washington. |

- Very transparent and light in color.
- Earthy aromas.
- Very good mouth feel, silky on the tongue.
- A hint of blackberries.
- Black cherry tastes with a short finish.
- This wine is the NBA in the late 90’s… it has a lot of redeeming qualities (M.J. is still in the league after all). It is still worth your time… but really it’s too watered down with not enough going on… it could have been much better if it were more focused.

This wine is a Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State. |
| $13 from Fresh and Easy |
 |
- Anise and wood in the aroma.
- Tastes of woody oak and dark berries
- Very earthy, leathery flavors and aromas
- Decanting with a filter is recommend as there is some sediment.
- Very Earthy and comfortable…like walking into your grandfathers library and he is sitting there by the fire. there is a distinguised air about it and it makes you want to linger there for a long time.

This wine is a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Franc from the Columbia Valley in Washington State. Overall it was not too bad. though for the price you could do a lot better than this. It tended to ba a bit on the boring side. |
| $10 from Fry’s |
 |
- Aromas of sulfer and dark berries
- Quite tart at the beginning.
- Hints of green apple.
- Simple, smooth and medium bodied.
- A little generic and run-of-the-mill tasting. It did not offend but did not overly excite either…a few posts back we talked about a wine being like a plain looking librarian that when she took her hair down and glasses off you said Wow ……well….this wine is like the librarian that takes her glasses off and lets her hair down and you say….Yup…still a librarian.

This wine is a Cabernet from the Columbia Valley in Washington. I picked this up at Fresh and Easy but I have had it before. It can be found in Fry’s and Basha’s but the price at Fresh and Easy was the cheapest I have seen. The Two Vines line from Columbia Crest has produced many “Best Buy” and “Best Value” designations from wine aficionados. |
| $6.00 Purchased at Fresh and Easy |
 |
- Strong aromas of fruit that is dominated by Black Cherry
- Nice balance between sweet and dry with moderate tannins
- Cherry and oak flavors right away and a hint of cocoa on the finish
- Full bodied and robust
- A little sharp on the tongue at first but decanting led to a very soft and velvety feeling in the mouth
- A wonderful and enjoyable wine for the price….Like eating a burger from a charcoal grill…it is still just a burger but that charcoal grill makes it taste like so much more.

This wine is a Merlot from the Columbia Valley of Washington. This wine was a great little find. I noticed that Wine Spectator gave the 2005 91 points; but the 2006 had not been rated yet. As I looked through the box containing all the Merlot I only saw the 2006….but to my delight as I was about to give up I found a 2005 at the bottom. If you can find this we would recommend trying it. We are also planning on going back and picking up the 2006; so be on the lookout for that review. |
| $14 at COSTCO |
 |
- Very Rich and rustic
- Scents of leather and wood
- Very masculine and earthy in aroma
- Initial burst of black cherries in the the taste fading into a more rugged woody flavor
- Nicely balanced and structured
- Moderate Tannins but decanting smoothed it out some.
- This wine is a warm fireplace on a snowy Christmas morning. Friends can gather around it while it gives off a warmth that makes everyone feel comfortable and happy to be there.
