Three Trophies
  • Intense, rich and fruity bouquet.
  • Dry and tart.
  • A wine meant to be enjoyed with a meal.
  • Decanting is strongly recommended; but if no decanter is available then you should allow the wine to breathe for an hour before drinking it.
  • A wine like this is like an independent and strong woman… she knows what she wants and is going to tell you whether you want her to or not. She is outgoing and somewhat abrasive but you will always know what she means. She does not beat around the bush.

Tinhorn Creek Merlot (British Columbia 2004)

Category: MerlotMike @ 11:47 am
Tinhorn Creek Merlot This is a Merlot from the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find any retailer the sells Canadian wines here in Arizona. You may have a hard time finding this wine outside of Canada. If you are ever in Canada we highly recommend that you pick up some wine and share it with your friends.
$17
Four Trophies
  • Dark berry flavors.
  • Decanting is recommended.
  • Smooth and spicy.
  • Great with virtually any meat dish from burgers to steaks.
  • This wine is like a wild child….time in the decanter will sooth out some of her rough edges but still leave her with the strength and spiciness that makes her personality so outgoing and adventurous.

Senorio Del Aguila Reserva (Spain 1995)

Category: BlendMike @ 2:29 pm
Senorio Del Aguila This wine is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Cabernet Sauvignon from Northern Spain.
$17 purchased at The WineRack
Three and a Half Trophies
  • Must be decanted, preferably a long time (40min).
  • Right out of the bottle it is harsh but when decanted it is very smooth and easy to drink.
  • Earthy flavors, bold.
  • Light bouquet.
  • Probably would have been a 4 trophy wine if it did not need to be decanted. For those without a decanter it is recommended that you let it breath. So with that being said…this wine is like the geeky college nerd you see on every campus…but once you take the glasses off and let the hair down…WOW…GRRRRRR.
