This wine is an old vine Zinfandel from Lodi, California. I picked this up for an end of the summer get together at my condo before heading back to work for the school year. |
| $10 from Fresh & Easy |
 |
- Great aroma in the glass of fresh fruit
- Heavy, Heavy, Heavy alcohol tastes
- A bit of spice and oak was noticed after decanting
- Slight burst of cherry at first but then masked by the overpowering flavor of alcohol.
- I was all excited about this wine since I was celebrating the end of my summer with friends….Only problem….the wine was not. Drinking this wine was like getting all dressed up and excited for a date you have been waiting for…..only to have the girl call you 15 minutes before you leave to tell you she cannot make it. Huge let down to say the least.

This is a tempranillo from Spain. This was another of our 4th of July wines that we had that day. |
| $10 from Fresh and Easy |
 |
- Aromas of leather with a hint of peppermint behind it
- Earthy and woody in the initial taste
- A lot of tannins, even after decanting for 1 hour.
- Hearty and robust - would be great with a steak.
- A very intensely masculine wine would be akin to fighting a bull….or running with them…neither is one you would want to do on our own. So to is this wine…it must be paired with a rich and hearty meal in order to be fully enjoyed.

This is a Pinot Noir from Oregon. I was excited when I saw this wine in Fresh & Easy because I had the 2004 and 2005 vintage about a year ago. While I would recommend the 2004 vintage over this based on taste alone; you cannot pass this one up because of the price. Pick this bottle of Oregon Pinot up and give it a try. |
| $10 from Fresh & Easy |
|
- Some strawberry and floral aromas.
- Quite dry and tannic.
- The taste was a bit earthy with hints of fresh cut wood.
- Minor taste of nutmeg at the finish.
- Very good Pinot for the price…Much like like picking up a filet mignon that has been marked down at half price. It just seems to taste so much better because you know the price you paid.

This is a Malbec, Bonarda blend from Mendoza Argentina. |
| $10 from Target |
|
- Vanilla and blackberries with a hint of cotton candy in the aroma.
- Moderate tannins
- Fruit forward taste yet not too sweet.
- Soft smooth mouth feel with a nice dry finish.
- This wine is like a mid-summer day… in the pacific northwest. It’s refreshing and cool in a summery way but not too overpowering.

This wine is a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Franc from the Columbia Valley in Washington State. Overall it was not too bad. though for the price you could do a lot better than this. It tended to ba a bit on the boring side. |
| $10 from Fry’s |
 |
- Aromas of sulfer and dark berries
- Quite tart at the beginning.
- Hints of green apple.
- Simple, smooth and medium bodied.
- A little generic and run-of-the-mill tasting. It did not offend but did not overly excite either…a few posts back we talked about a wine being like a plain looking librarian that when she took her hair down and glasses off you said Wow ……well….this wine is like the librarian that takes her glasses off and lets her hair down and you say….Yup…still a librarian.

This wine is a Garnacha from Spain. We highly recommended the Tempranillo from Tapena, so I thought I’d give the Garnacha a try. This wine would be enjoyed much more by someone who prefers sweeter wine. We enjoy dryer wines, so go ahead and add a trophy if you think you like sweeter wines. |
| $10 from Bashas |
 |
- Very ripe aromas of berries and cherries.
- Has a strong sweet taste, especially before decanting.
- Tastes of almond, vanilla and jammy berries.
- Decanting is highly recommended as it mellows the wine out quite a bit.
- This wine is like that sweet and naive girl you meet one day. Once you get to know her though, you realize that she’s actually not that naive at all… but still very sweet.

This is a Malbec from Argentina. I was looking for something to just unwind with while grilling after a long week at work. Somebody in the store (not an employee) had some good things to say about this wine so I figured I would give her a try. |
| $10.00 From Fresh and Easy |
 |
- Strong aromas of fresh berries
- Good balance between earthiness and fruitiness
- Toasted oak flavors mix well with hints fruits such as plum and black cherry
- Hints of cranberry towards the end
- Very easy to drink with a meal or by itself
- This wine is simple yet brings enough to the table so you will enjoy it……Like going over to Grandmas for Sunday dinner….The meal is simple and old fashioned but you enjoy every minute of being there.

This wine is a Tempranillo from Spain. Tempranillo is the main grape for much of Spain. The primary regions where the grape is grown are Rioja and Ribera Del Duero. Tempranillo’s can be very similar in many ways to Pinot Noir as is the case with this particular bottle. |
| $10 Purchased at Bashas |
 |
- Aromas of red berries, cherries and vanilla.
- Very smooth and soft, but also light and crisp at the same time.
- Flavors of plumb and a little smoke and oak.
- At $10.00 a bottle this wine is like waking up on Saturday morning at 5:00 a.m……You suddenly realize that it is the weekend and you are free to sleep for a couple of more hours. A great wine, and the price makes it so worth it. You must try this wine! You will be so grateful that you did.
