This wine is a Malbec from Mendoza Argentina and available at Fresh & Easy. We got this wine as part of a three bottle twitter tasting with Fresh & Easy that we did yesterday. We were very excited to try this since the last Malbec from Fresh & Easy was so good. |
| $10 from Fresh & Easy |

- Smells of plumb off the nose.
- Deep dark and rich colors.
- Tastes dark fruit and spice with prune at the end.
- Out of the bottle it was very harsh, but much nicer after decanting.
- This wine is like a crazy Uncle that says a lot of outlandish things… yet every once in a while, comes up with a comment that really displays a lot of wisdom.
Justagrape.com was provided a complementary bottle of this wine from Fresh & Easy and was not compensated for this review. |

This was a review that we did between periods of the 2008 season opener of the Phoenix Coyotes. We thought it would be a good bottle to commemorate the occasion. |
| $10 at Bashas |

|
- Hints of mint and and a slight scent of alcohol in the aroma
- Flavors of prunes at first
- Medium to long finish with hints of clove
- Red apple on the tip of the tongue
- Really interesting wine with a great label….but not really what you expected. It is like picking up a video that you have never heard of before but the cover looked interesting. While it may not have been the best movie, you stil enjoyed if because you got it on video and did not spend a fortune seeing it in the theater.

This wine is an old vine Zinfandel from Lodi, California. I picked this up for an end of the summer get together at my condo before heading back to work for the school year. |
| $10 from Fresh & Easy |
 |
- Great aroma in the glass of fresh fruit
- Heavy, Heavy, Heavy alcohol tastes
- A bit of spice and oak was noticed after decanting
- Slight burst of cherry at first but then masked by the overpowering flavor of alcohol.
- I was all excited about this wine since I was celebrating the end of my summer with friends….Only problem….the wine was not. Drinking this wine was like getting all dressed up and excited for a date you have been waiting for…..only to have the girl call you 15 minutes before you leave to tell you she cannot make it. Huge let down to say the least.

This is a tempranillo from Spain. This was another of our 4th of July wines that we had that day. |
| $10 from Fresh & Easy |
 |
- Aromas of leather with a hint of peppermint behind it
- Earthy and woody in the initial taste
- A lot of tannins, even after decanting for 1 hour.
- Hearty and robust – would be great with a steak.
- A very intensely masculine wine would be akin to fighting a bull….or running with them…neither is one you would want to do on our own. So to is this wine…it must be paired with a rich and hearty meal in order to be fully enjoyed.

This is a Pinot Noir from Oregon. I was excited when I saw this wine in Fresh & Easy because I had the 2004 and 2005 vintage about a year ago. While I would recommend the 2004 vintage over this based on taste alone; you cannot pass this one up because of the price. Pick this bottle of Oregon Pinot up and give it a try. |
| $10 from Fresh & Easy |
|
- Some strawberry and floral aromas.
- Quite dry and tannic.
- The taste was a bit earthy with hints of fresh cut wood.
- Minor taste of nutmeg at the finish.
- Very good Pinot for the price…Much like like picking up a filet mignon that has been marked down at half price. It just seems to taste so much better because you know the price you paid.

- Hints of bright raspberry in the aroma.
- The smell is very inviting, this wine can be easily be enjoyed on it’s own.
- Immediately this wine is light and fresh yet full of flavor.
- Strong smooth finish.
- A very solid Pinot for the price. Pick it up if you see it.
- This wine is like a surprise visit from an old friend. It’s comfortable and familiar, but you always learn something new every time.

This wine is a Tempranillo from the Rioja region of Spain. We explained a little about what a Rioja was in a previous review on Marques De Riscal
The bottle suggests opening it several hours prior to drinking and we would agree. We found that with the use of a decanter that an hour was all it took to be ready. Decanting really smoothed out the wine and added a wonderful texture. This wine has received many accolades from other reviewers and being that the price was only $10.00 we would agree with them. |

- Sweet black cherries dominate the aroma with an undertone of spice
- Very soft and velvety in the mouth
- Cherries and plum in the taste
- Earthy with oak flavors come through at the end.
- A great wine that is a little bit harsh right out of the bottle. Decanting and time is strongly suggested….much like a relationship that takes time and effort so to does this wine…The time you give it to breath will reward you for your wait and you will be left with a very easy drinking, smooth and comfortable wine.

This is a Malbec, Bonarda blend from Mendoza Argentina. |
| $10 from Target |
|
- Vanilla and blackberries with a hint of cotton candy in the aroma.
- Moderate tannins
- Fruit forward taste yet not too sweet.
- Soft smooth mouth feel with a nice dry finish.
- This wine is like a mid-summer day… in the pacific northwest. It’s refreshing and cool in a summery way but not too overpowering.

This wine is a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Franc from the Columbia Valley in Washington State. Overall it was not too bad. though for the price you could do a lot better than this. It tended to ba a bit on the boring side. |
| $10 from Fry’s |
 |
- Aromas of sulfer and dark berries
- Quite tart at the beginning.
- Hints of green apple.
- Simple, smooth and medium bodied.
- A little generic and run-of-the-mill tasting. It did not offend but did not overly excite either…a few posts back we talked about a wine being like a plain looking librarian that when she took her hair down and glasses off you said Wow ……well….this wine is like the librarian that takes her glasses off and lets her hair down and you say….Yup…still a librarian.

This wine is a Garnacha from Spain. We highly recommended the Tempranillo from Tapena, so I thought I’d give the Garnacha a try. This wine would be enjoyed much more by someone who prefers sweeter wine. We enjoy dryer wines, so go ahead and add a trophy if you think you like sweeter wines. |
| $10 from Bashas |
 |
- Very ripe aromas of berries and cherries.
- Has a strong sweet taste, especially before decanting.
- Tastes of almond, vanilla and jammy berries.
- Decanting is highly recommended as it mellows the wine out quite a bit.
- This wine is like that sweet and naive girl you meet one day. Once you get to know her though, you realize that she’s actually not that naive at all… but still very sweet.
