Francis Ford Coppola Rosso Blend (California, 2009)

This is a wine that we’ve reviewed previously in the 2008 vintage, but we were disappointed with the 2009 compared to the previous year. |
| $16 from Fry’s | |

Completely agree with your review. I picked this up for just under $9 a bottle because I remembered it fondly from my grad school days (food and budget friendly). Definitely not as good as I remembered it to be, but not offensive. I think there are better wines for the price.

I just purchased a case of 2009 Rosso from a local wine shop that had it on special for $6.36 a bottle with a mail-in-rebate of $42 on a case. That’s just $2.86 plus tax per bottle. At this price, it’s an amazing QPR. It’s actually a good food friendly blend or nice on it’s own as well.

I’ve purchased three or four bottles so far at about $8.60, and I couldn’t be happier with this wine at this price. It’s exactly what it claims to be on the bottle: an everyday table wine. It’s perfect for jelly jars on the back porch, and I agree about the real bang being found at the finish. It does, however, offer a fairly substantial mouth feel even before the taste kicks in and does not feel thin at all. Love this wine… just two cents from a total amateur…
