This is a Cabernet Sauvignon that my wife Lynnette picked up from Sprouts. She bought it so I could make a pan sauce to go with the steak she purchased as well for me to grill. This wine is a non-vintage. |
| $5 at Sprouts |
 |
- Light, fruity and pleasant aromas
- A rush of fresh raspberries right off the bat
- Oak undertones
- More Sweet and fruity than earthy but not overwhelmingly sweet
- This is not as big and bold as you might expect from cabernet but it is still good.
- Decent wine, but you feel a little bit tricked since it did not have the usual characteristics of a Cab…Kinda like going to a movie because of the previews you saw….Then the movie turns out to be very different than you expected….but the pan sauce was excellent!

This is a Merlot I picked up from Fresh and Easy on the way home from work. I was planning on having a nice burger on the grill and was looking for a decent wine to go with it. The bottle really stood out to me for some reason and I was compelled to pick it up. |
| $8.00 From Fresh and Easy |
 |
- Heavy aromas of alcohol
- Very acidic and harsh in the mouth
- Slight flavors of oak and berries
- The alcohol taste kind of masked the fruit and overpowered it
- This wine is kinda like kissing a good looking girl who has bad breath…something about the bottle attracted me but once I tasted it I knew that I would not want to go there again.

- A solid Chianti at $10.00 that would provide good company with a meal….yet light enough to have a glass or two on its own

This wine is a Cabernet from the Columbia Valley in Washington. I picked this up at Fresh and Easy but I have had it before. It can be found in Fry’s and Basha’s but the price at Fresh and Easy was the cheapest I have seen. The Two Vines line from Columbia Crest has produced many “Best Buy” and “Best Value” designations from wine aficionados. |
| $6.00 Purchased at Fresh and Easy |
 |
- Strong aromas of fruit that is dominated by Black Cherry
- Nice balance between sweet and dry with moderate tannins
- Cherry and oak flavors right away and a hint of cocoa on the finish
- Full bodied and robust
- A little sharp on the tongue at first but decanting led to a very soft and velvety feeling in the mouth
- A wonderful and enjoyable wine for the price….Like eating a burger from a charcoal grill…it is still just a burger but that charcoal grill makes it taste like so much more.

| $10 Purchased from Cost Plus World Market |
 |
- Spicy aromas with cherries, slightly peppery.
- Very smooth and somewhat light.
- Not complicated or elaborate.
- Simple yet enjoyable…this wine is fine if you want to just sit down and have something to drink after work that tastes good but you don’t have to think about it too much.

This is a Cabernet Shiraz blend from Australia. |
| $3 Purchased form Fresh and Easy |
 |
- Strong fruit forward aroma with strawberry.
- Burst of strawberries right of the bat followed by blackberries.
- On the sweet side, but not too sweet or jammy.
- Simple thin and light with a medium finish.
- Like a piece of candy or a slice of cake is good after a well balanced dinner….so to is this wine…Not big or bold enough to rely on to supply all your nutritional needs; but definitely something you don’t mind having every once in a while….especially considering the cost.

This is a Primitivo form the Puglia region of Italy. |
| $5 Purchased at Fresh & Easy. |
 |
- Smells light and mineraly.
- Black cherry aromas.
- Full bodied and dry with subtle tannins.
- Nice berry flavors with just a hint of spice.
- Take this wine for what it is…It is a 5 dollar bottle. Kinda like having a hot dog on this grill….If you are expecting an expensive fillet mignon then you will be disappointed but….if you know that you bought a package of hot dogs and know the price of them then you will appreciate it for what it is. Besides…sometime a hot dog just his the spot.

This wine is a blend of Marechal Foch and Gamay Noir. This wine is produced on Vancouver Island in British Columbia and may be difficult to find outside of that area. If you are on Vancouver Island we highly recommend that you try this wine if you enjoy wines that are more rich, earthy and dry. We tried our best to get a picture of the bottle but could not find one anywhere. The wine is produced at Godfrey Brownell Vinyards in Duncan British Columbia. |

- Great with grilled red meats or pasta.
- Very hearty yet very drinkable.
- Deep , Dark, and complex…Like a mysterious women you see and talk with briefly on the subway… she gets off at the next stop and you wonder if you will ever see her again.

| $8 Purchased from Bashas. |
 |
- Notes of blackberries in the bouquet.
- Smooth and mild tasting but also a very flat.
- A medium finish with hints of spice and mild tannins.
- This is the Budweiser, or Molson of wine. It has been mass produced and marketed so as not to offend anyones taste… kinda like listening to the latest boy band… You know who they are and what they sing but once you hear one of their songs you wonder why you did not change the station.

This is a Cabernet from the Amber Knolls Vinyard of the 75 Wine Company in Lake County California. I enjoyed a glass of this Cab at the Brushfire Grill in Gilbert AZ with my BBQ Chicken. They are serving it for around $10 a glass so you would be able to pick up a bottle elsewhere for around $20. |
